Standing Seam
Panels run ridge to eave. Seams rise above the panel surface. Clips hold the panel to the deck. No fastener ever penetrates the panel face. The panel floats through the clip as it expands and contracts. That is why standing seam lasts 50 to 70 years in Colorado temperature swings.
Good for
Primary residences, architectural projects, mountain homes where zero maintenance is the goal.
Price signal: Premium.

Screws sit under the panel overlap, hidden from view. Cleaner look than exposed fastener. Still has fixed attachment points through the deck. Does not allow the same thermal float as standing seam. Different long-term performance profile.
Good for
HOA projects, mid-range residential where exposed fastener is not acceptable but full standing seam budget is not available.
Price signal: Mid-range.

Screws go through the panel face. Heads are visible on the surface. Pro Panel (also called R-Panel) is the most common profile here. You see it on cabins, barns, and mountain homes across Colorado. Gasket washers seal each fastener. Plan for inspection every 10 to 15 years as washers degrade.

Cabins, outbuildings, budget reroofs, any project where function beats aesthetics.
