ReadySlate

ReadySlate is a panelized natural slate system made by CUPA PIZARRAS, the world's largest slate producer. Each panel comes with six hand-quarried Spanish slate tiles pre-mounted on a waterproof bituminous membrane. The slate arrives pre-drilled and pre-scored. No hand-holing on site.

The backing membrane provides secondary waterproofing at the panel level. That is more consistent than the seam-and-lap method of traditional hand-set slate. On a Colorado mountain home, that matters when the deck sits exposed between weather windows.

It carries Class 4 impact and Class A fire ratings. The Florida high-velocity hurricane zone approval is on file. Those numbers hold on the real slate, not a composite substitute.

We use it when the schedule is tighter than a custom quarry order allows, or when the crew available can set panels but does not have traditional slate experience. The stone is the same. The install format is different.

Colorado installs still need proper headlap, copper or stainless fasteners, and a deck engineered for the weight. ReadySlate is lighter than traditional hand-set but it is not a lightweight roof.
